Woven Bookmark

This woven bookmark is not your typical bookmark!
Cute and colorful, its unusual shape gives you a fun way to mark your page.   All you need is paper and scissors.

You will need:

1.  Two strips of paper 5 inches x 2 inches

2.  Scissors or a craft knife

3.  A ruler if you wish to be exact

A corner of a book with the bookmark in place
The two strips of paper are folded in half 1.  Fold each piece of paper in half.
The two strips of paper have been cut into half inch tabs 2.  Starting at the folded edge, make three cuts in the paper.  They should be 2 1/16 inches long and 1/2 inch apart.  This will divide your paper into four tabs, still attached together.
The top tab on the yellow paper has been woven into the tabs on the red paper 3.  Take the top tab of the first paper. Slide it through the first tab on the second paper.  Then slide it around the second tab.  Slide it through the third tab and around the fourth tab.
The second tab of the yellow paper has been woven into the red tabs 4.  Using the second tab on the first paper, weave it through the tabs on the second piece of paper like you did with the first tab.  This time begin by going over, then through.
The bookmark has been completely woven 5.  Weave the remaining tabs into place.  It will take gentle tugging and manuevering to get them in place.  Just be careful not to tear your paper.

When woven together, the paper will form a pocket 6.  When all the tabs are woven, the paper will form a pocket.  You can gently wiggle and tug on the tabs to get them perfectly positioned, so your pocket is squared at the corner.
